General Duty Statement Saint Paul Parks and Recreation (SPPR) is looking for dependable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable people to instruct pickleball to youth and/or adults at various locations throughout Saint Paul. Our classes focus on safety, fundamentals and skill development. Pickleball Instructors are responsible for planning and instructing a variety of group lessons at both indoor and outdoor locations throughout the City. Saint Paul is a diverse and vibrant city with communities of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and interests. As such, SPPR is calling for people with the ability to support the needs of individuals in addition to managing group dynamics. Primary Job Responsibilities and Necessary Skills Include: Plan, implement, assess, and instruct a variety of group lessons. Perform needs assessment, and identify participant skill development. Complete accident reports, as needed. Administer First Aid, as needed. Other tasks and duties, as requested. Ability to interact positively with groups of adults/children. Ability to instruct these groups of adults/children in the safety, fundamentals, and skills of pickleball. Ability to manage group dynamics, while also supporting the needs of individual participants. Ability to learn, understand, apply and enforce both the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation's, and the City's, policies and procedures. Ability to work independently. Ability to deal with the public diplomatically. Demonstrates knowledge of pickleball. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Must complete the CDC Concussion Awareness Training (provided by the City). Must have reliable transportation. Additional Preferred Skills: Any combination of CPR/AED/First Aid Certification/s. IPTPA (International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association) Certification. Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) Certification. Pickleball Instructors are typically scheduled 2 to 16 hours per week; between the hours of 9:00 am – 9:00 pm throughout the week. Overview: Audio/Visual Technicians work in the Operations Department with oversight by the Director of Operations. They report directly to and are supervised by the AV Technical Manager to perform a variety of tasks specific to the operation and care of audio-visual equipment and/or multi-media exhibitions. Responsibilities include handling, installing and troubleshooting complex artworks, assisting with projection, audio engineering (including live sound), videotaping, and lighting. Temporary AV technicians provide assistance for MOCA rental events, exhibitions, film and video presentations, performances, lectures and presentations and various other programs at MOCA as needed. Performance and programming venues include the Ahmanson Auditorium at MOCA Grand Avenue and the Warehouse at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Other duties may include assisting in the preparation of exhibitions, including the handling of artworks, light construction and routine maintenance. These functions involve partnership with the Rentals Program Manager, Registration Department, Curatorial Department, Exhibitions Department, Education Department, and visiting artists and curators working on museum projects. The safe and careful handling of all objects placed within the Museum's care, whether owned or borrowed, is the utmost priority of all production staff, including providing quality professional expertise with portable AV equipment for live events. As a contemporary art museum MOCA presents both conventional and nonconventional art forms that can be experimental in nature. Projects at the museum vary greatly and as such all Temporary AV Technicians will be required to perform a variety of tasks beyond the technical application of equipment. Essential Functions: Works with AV Technical Manager and Exhibition Technicians in preparing and installing all AV equipment for exhibitions and with other MOCA staff for programming and events. Maintains operations of exhibitions including monitoring all media elements, performing routine maintenance with supervision of AV Technical Manager. Assists with care, maintenance and tracking of the museum’s A/V equipment. In coordination with the AV Technical Manager, provides audio-visual services for live events, including setup and operation of media for museum’s programming, rentals and other functions. Basic electrical knowledge required, advanced electrical knowledge preferred. Working knowledge of tools and proper application required.
