In my previous work experience, I have honed my research and writing skills based upon the needs and parameters of the various organizations in which I’ve worked. I am adaptable, and have fluency in Spanish (read, write and speak) as I spent a significant amount of time abroad. I have used my bilingual skills within all of my jobs to interpret, communicate and assist with data collection and report writing. I have a B.A. in research psychology and have specialized in research projects and scholarly writing within my professional roles. Like others, my career path hasn’t been entirely straightforward. I began in the K-12 school system interpreting for conferences, assisting in reading (ELL children) and assisting in the testing of ELL children (WIDA testing). These results would be compiled for the Wyoming Public Schools administration, and scored among other ELL programs within the state of Michigan. I worked alongside the school psychologist to assist in the behavioral issues of children whose first language was Spanish. I assisted in the writing of IEPs, various behavioral reports and administrative reports for the school board. After leaving Wyoming Public Schools, I began working with unaccompanied children from Central America through Bethany Christian Services. I worked first hand with our social work counselors and psychology staff to conduct assessments and write reports. We would use this data to further educate our foster parents on the needs of the incoming children, and train our foster care staff. This data would be compiled and submitted to ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) and MDHHS (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services) to assess the level of care within our facilities and the level of need of the unaccompanied children arriving. After receiving years of experience of government report writing, I realized that my desired career path would be in factual, objective, research based work and it would be less emotionally taxing. At this time, I had completed a Master’s program in Industial/Organizational Psychology with a Forensic concentration. At Kent County Circuit Court, in addition to my administrative role, I have been responsible for assisting with collecting and interpreting data for our jury representation surveys. The data creates a breakdown of the demographic and representative samples of our jurors that are selected each week for trials. This information is submitted in a written report to SCAO (State Court Administrators Office) to ensure that our court is in compliance with demographic diversity for jury selection within the Circuit Court of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have been an avid writer since my childhood, including completing a novel by age 14. I excel with detailed work, concrete facts and information. I have a natural talent for languages, reading and writing. I have ample experience with writing reports and journals for research, government reporting and county reporting regulations. I would love to schedule a time for us to discuss this role and my experience, and I would like to thank you for considering me.
