Recent graduate Corinne Pembroke, Data Entry & Admin
I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Economics. My coursework consisted of a variety of classes including econometrics, macro and micro economics, and several interdisciplinary courses that incorporated Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, and STATA. Topics covered in the economics major gave me a strong background in finance and presented me with the economic framework in which to analyze human behavior and address broader policy issues. I have found this particularly useful in today’s context, where the effects of a global pandemic require a reevaluation of the sustainability of business operations nationwide. While attending university, I gained work and leadership experience that advanced my professional and technical skills. From October 2018 to December 2019 I held a wealth management internship position at UBS Financial Services. My day-to-day tasks included constructing cash flow projections, assessing and analyzing the performance of client portfolios and individual investment accounts, creating content for marketing efforts, and managing the calendars and email correspondence for two financial advisors. This position exposed me to the demands of a fast paced professional environment- time management, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication were essential to the success of myself and the team. It also aided in the development of my skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS, Formulas, and Pivot Tables), Word, and Powerpoint, as they were incorporated in my daily job functions. From January 2018 to October 2018 I held the position of research analyst at the UCLA Economics Department. My primary job function was to support three UCLA economics professors on several long term studies by performing statistical, qualitative, and quantitative analyses to gain insights and feedback using STATA. Additionally, I was tasked with developing macros, special formulas, and STATA programs to merge, scrub, and analyze data sets with more than 27 million data points.
