Marco Grossi
Italy, Perugia
Content Creator Marco Grossi, Writing & Content
I started publishing online in a local blog managed by Italian, foreign and second-generation immigrant volunteers. During this rewarding experience in a multicultural environment I learned how to use and manage Wordpress, how to optimize copy SEO-wise and how to promote it on social media (mainly Facebook, but also Instagram and Twitter). These skills have proved crucial in my ongoing experience as content creator and social media manager in a nonprofit organization, where on top of writing articles I am also responsible for creating and editing photos and videos for various projects. In these past two years I have had the opportunity to test and hone my skills in environments differing in nature, priorities and demands. I have had to be as versatile as possible, dealing with ever-changing schedules, last minute demands and strict time requirements, and being asked to interact with a multitude of individuals and subjects, from public institutions to nonprofit organizations to local entrepreneurs. Thus, I’ve learned how to rearrange my schedule and workload according to the situation, and how to successfully work alongside experts in all kind of fields, both in presence and remotely. Even more so due to the ongoing Covid-19 emergency, which has forced me to work autonomously and prioritize remote interactions with coworkers and stakeholders. A crucial part of my work has always consisted of finding, verifying, and selecting the sources to get data, info or inspiration from. That was certainly true for the territorial marketing copy I used to create for UmbriaTourism.it, the official touristic website for the region of Umbria. After all, there aren’t enough hours in a day to experience every single activity and touristic attraction I was required to write about. Therefore, finding reliable and relevant information became the key for writing useful content for the tourists interested in spending their time in Umbria. The same can be stated for my updates on UmbriaIntegra.it, tailored to the immigrant communities in the region. I am fully convinced that as a content creator it is of utmost importance to write articles that your readers can easily and fully understand, relate to, and perceive as trustworthy, regardless of your target.

Published in startup "Harness Magazine". I've included a sample of my work. It's almost 20 years later and my mind still can't grasp what happened. I went to the World Trade Center yesterday for the first time. I'm 27 years old and I just saw one of the most infamous sites in the world for the first time. It's the fourth of July. A day where we should be celebrating men and women that lay down their lives for our freedom. As I look around me it's beautiful. The sun is shining, it's warm and there's just that little bit of a breeze to keep you cool. There're children running around blowing bubbles, people walking their dogs and runners glistening. The sun is starting to set and there's streaks of yellow, orange and pink in the sky. A scene perfectly orchestrated by God almost as if it was written for a movie script. The architecture around me is beautiful and pristine. Glass buildings everywhere and, flowers are hanging from the ceilings of the beautiful patio restaurants. I think there's a fountain where one of the towers used to be. I only say “I think” because I didn't let myself get close enough to it to actually see. Everything is rebuilt now...at least physically. Any babies born after that year would never know just by looking at it, but I can't help but feel like I'm looking at a graveyard when I saw it. Even as fresh and new as it was. In my mind I saw the ash. In my mind I saw the smoke. In my mind I saw the falling man and all our innocence it broke. I tell myself to stop being such a baby stop crying because it's not like I was there. I only saw the collapse of America as we ever knew it but I suppose that's an awful lot to bear. I can't help but think of us "before" whenever I see a child innocently playing. The child represents America. Carefree, light. I miss that feeling before the fire of 175 United flight. Let's not forget American 11. I know every passenger went straight to heaven. So, on this day of red white and blue. Let's honor who showed up to help and mourn what we didn't know. Let's mourn our innocence of the way we saw the world before the flames engulfed our sky and the black smoke swirled.
