4.2| ||Temporary|6 hours ago| Full Job Description Hourly Wage: $9.00 per hour Position Description: The Peer Leader supports the Office of International Services (OIS) in the planning and execution of student programs and support services. The individual will help to lead International Allies, the volunteer core within the Office of International Services. This position will work alongside the Assistant Director for Intercultural Programs, the Graduate Assistant for Intercultural Programs, and the International Allies to facilitate existing student and scholar programming, including but not limited to the International Sash Ceremony, Wednesdays with World, International Education Month, new student and scholar orientations, cultural workshops and trainings, and adventure trips. The Peer Leader will also be responsible for proposing and designing new programs to meet the needs of the OIS and the populations we serve. Specific responsibilities include leading International Allies meetings, maintaining the OIS event calendar, representing the OIS and USF World at campus-wide events, developing content to promote OIS and USF World programs and services, setup/breakdown at major events, and other duties as assigned. This position involves some evening and weekend availability. Duties: Co-facilitate International Allies meetings, events, and programs Build and host events to engage our international students and scholars, including some off-campus adventure trips Delegate and assign volunteer roles at OIS and USF World programs and events as needed Propose and design new programs to connect international students and scholars to their U.S. American peers Facilitate workshops and trainings, including Intercultural Communication Training and other identity-based workshops Collaborate with campus partners, including Education Abroad, to offer programs and services that promote global engagement on campus and in our community Interface with students, international scholars, faculty, and staff by serving in the front desk rotation Represent the OIS and USF World at a variety of university events Attend a weekly 1:1, Intercultural Programs team meeting, and occasionally larger committee meetings as needed Maintain the OIS event calendar Expand the marketing and outreach efforts of the OIS and USF World through tabling, facilitating info sessions, leading classroom/organization presentations, creating new print and digital content, and attending events as needed Assist with event setup and breakdown Other duties as assigned Average Number of Hours per Week: 10 hours per week Schedule:Varies Minimum Qualifications: Must be a student Preferred Qualifications: na Standard Learning Objectives: As a result of this position, student will be able to: Evaluate existing programs and services and offer strategies for improvement Identify opportunities to better serve international student populations and create programs and services to meet those needs Demonstrate a knowledge of program planning and event management skills Cultivate intercultural communication skills through interactions with international students and scholars Liaise with campus partners to offer campus-wide programs to support international students and scholars Communicate appropriate and relevant programs and services offered by the OIS and USF World to a variety of audiences Demonstrate basic employability skills such as: timeliness to work, appropriate dress, interpersonal communication, and time management Receive and solicit feedback from supervisor and effectively apply feedback on the job Assess workplace and demonstrate how personal talents, skills, and knowledge fit into the employer’s goals, mission, and vision Demonstrate his or her professional brand (identity) Communicate transferable and functional skills to prospective employers Additional Information for Applicants: About our Ofiice: The mission of International Services is to promote awareness, understanding and compliance of federal immigration regulations and university policies while supporting and enhancing the academic, cultural and social experiences of all international students, scholars and staff at the University of South Florida
