Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Core Tech Enterprise Applications Platform (EAP) accelerates digital transformation at GSK by delivering enterprise platforms for solutions. Among the other products, EAP includes RPA platform hosting bots at scale, API gateway to integrate GSK systems securely, Developer platform to host active platform solutions involving Azure, DevOps and RPA. In the role of Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for producing products on Azure platform, using the microservices architecture and Azure DevOps. You will be working on fully up-to-date technologies in the Azure cloud to build smart microservices based solutions.You will be working in a team, which is fully committed to remain at the leading edge of this skillset. Therefore, the impetus to keep improving skills and acquiring skillsets in new technologies will be very strong. The Senior Software Engineer will directly contribute to the extensive and varied build and deployment activities involved in establishing new solutions then continue to work on the already significant and growing pipeline of future product buildouts on the Enterprise Applications platform.Essential ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Software Engineer, your role will include responsibilities for:Development: Hands on, sleeves up development and delivery expected as a matter of course. You will be responsible for both the design, development and implementation of short- and long-term solutions to improve the EAP platform as necessary through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems to provide value add to the Enterprise Application platformDelivery: Analyze user requirements to help define the architectural approach. Ensure project goals are achieved on time in alignment with the stakeholders’ expectation. Ability to work on complex projects and in a distributed environment. Escalate to other Enterprise Applications and RPA leadership team when needing support. Work in close collaboration with other team members in the EAP Tech team, to ensure Development/Delivery/BAU aspects are well represented in the project’s requirements and deliverables. Methodology: Incorporate agile ways of working into the delivery process thru use of DABL (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Launch) framework to show value periodically. Individuals will work as part of product-centric delivery team(s) that will focus on delivering value independently while fully embracing integrated DevOps approaches, automated integration and system testing. Contribute and maintain engineering and system standards.Ownership: Take ownership for the delivery/development projects and help steer until completion. Partnering: Work closely with designers, product managers, scrum masters, tech leads, and contingent workers to deliver our software roadmaps. Work when required with external and/or internal delivery agents to coordinate delivery. Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers and contingent workers delivering on our roadmaps. Act as a consultant and guide to BU Tech when necessary to understand how to use new capabilities we are providingGovernance: Follow governance that allows projects and stakeholders to manage overall project performance and manage delivery risks within the global nature of EAP program.Forward looking: Remain flexible towards technology approaches to ensure that the best advantage is being taken of new technologies. Keep abreast of industry developments to build custom software and be able to interpret how these would impact?services and present new opportunities.Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all risk and issues associated with owned projects are recorded and managed in the appropriate Risk & Issue logs in a timely manner. Ensure all Risks and Issues have clear action/mitigation/contingency plans defined, with named action owners and timelines for completion.Technical Architecture: Be conversant with technical architecture to contribute to design discussions. Ability to create architecture diagrams and system designs. Collaborate on the definition of the architecture and technical delivery approach to accomplish GSK’s delivery roadmap for Enterprise Applications platform (EAP)This role is rare in that the scope for you to make an impact is very real and you will contribute directly to the significant business value which is already being leveraged from the emerging new platform. Must have worked in CI/CD ways of working using tools like Azure DevOps, automated integration and system testing.Ability to system design with applied knowledge of microservices architecture.Have a highly innovative mind-set and experience.Ability to work in close partnership with other IT functions such as IT security, compliance, infrastructure, etc. Applied knowledge of database and API development. Experience performing detailed code review.Experience in executing Custom Development projects in an Agile manner, articulation of Value depending on the project life cycle stage, Creating MVPs, developing plans for scale up are all very important experience to be successful in this role.
